Otis Electric Awarded First Metro Line Project in Inner Mongolia

HANGZHOU, China, Jan. 31, 2018 — Otis Electric recently expanded its rail transit footprint to 17 cities with the addition of the Hohhot Metro Line 1 project, the first subway line in Inner Mongolia to be served by more than 120 Otis Electric elevators and escalators. Otis Electric is a sub-brand of Otis, the world’s leading manufacturer and maintainer of people-moving products, including elevators, escalators and moving walkways, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
Hohhot is the capital, political, economic and cultural center of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. With a name that means "blue city" in Mongolian, Hohhot is an important central city along China’s northern borders. Hohhot Metro Line 1 will serve as an east-west backbone across the city. Construction began in 2016, with the network expected to begin operations by 2020.
