President and CEO, Otis
In her 35 years in industry, Judy Marks has witnessed technological advances while applying emerging and mature technologies in a way that benefits society. As President and CEO of Otis, Judy is leading the iconic company through a digital and cultural transformation.
Today, Otis is taking its deep knowledge of the hoistway and using it to create digital solutions that serve customers’ needs in an era of intelligent buildings. This includes IoT-based service solutions with proactive data analytics for predictive maintenance; advanced video analytics and dispatching systems to manage varying traffic patterns; and a new generation of elevators that are connected, smarter, data rich, safer, and more efficient and comfortable than ever.
“We are living in revolutionary times as the world is digitally transforming,” she says. “Our 68,000 colleagues are on a journey together into the future. We’re continuing to innovate, to find new business models, to serve customers with excellence and to disrupt ourselves to become an end-to-end enabler of global passenger mobility.”
Judy has held senior leadership roles at three global icons – IBM, Lockheed Martin and Siemens AG. She was serving as CEO of both Siemens USA and Dresser-Rand, a Siemens business, when appointed President of Otis in 2017.
She built her career on a host of challenging assignments, creating solutions for both global customers and government entities. A self-described technology zealot, Judy applies digital technologies and actively uses social media to amplify the reach of her messages. For Judy, leadership is about creating a sense of mission among employees.
“People make a decision every day about what kind of work they’re going to do,” she says. “That’s what I love about Otis people – they know that what we do matters. Across 200 countries and territories, we service 2 million units and touch 2 billion people every day to keep the world moving.”
Judy serves as a Director of Hubbell Inc. She earned a degree in electrical engineering from Lehigh University.
In 2017, Judy was named to the Top 50 Most Powerful Women in Technology and received the Excellence in Leadership Award from the International Society of Automation.
Executive Director and General Manager
“The building blocks of Otis success are passionate, talented employees and delighted customers,” says Ray Bisson, Executive Director and General Manager of Otis UK & Ireland. “Our digital transformation is enabling us to provide a personalised customer experience which is critical to urban mobility.” Responsible for leading a workforce of 1500 employees, Ray joined the organisation in 2018 from Otis New York City where he was Vice President for two years.
Ray’s journey in Otis began in 2000 as a sales trainee interested in combining his electrical engineering degree with business development in Florida. He quickly progressed through the ranks with increasing sales and operational responsibilities across the US where he spearheaded win-win solutions for customers in challenging assignments. He has been part of the great success story of Hudson Yards development in Manhattan’s West Side where Otis supplied 73 elevator and escalator units for office, retail, residential and hotel use.
Ray is a firm believer that teamwork is key to achievement in the increasingly complex, technologically demanding projects that Otis UK & Ireland is involved in. “It’s the diversity of thought and skill and focus on the end goal that ensures we bring an answer to the customer’s problem,” he says. “With 125 years of operating experience in the UK, we’ve been at the heart of moving people through the most iconic buildings in history.”
New Equipment Director, Otis UK
Bertrand Rotagnon was appointed New Equipment Director of Otis UK in July 2018, and is a member of the Executive Board of Otis UK and Ireland.
In his role, he leads the New Equipment business unit, and focuses on aligning and providing exceptional customer service across sales, marketing, and field operations to ensure slick delivery that improves our profitability, and enhances our market coverage and share of segment.
Prior to this role, Bertrand was New Equipment Sales, Marketing and Technical Director for two years.
He joined Otis in January 2011 as Senior Manager for the Otis West and North Europe High Rise Department based in Paris. He has since held various positions with increasing responsibility. Before moving to the UK, he was leading the Major Projects Department for Otis Europe and Africa.
Bertrand began his career at Bouygues Construction in 2004, where he worked for eight years. He started as a purchaser in the Paris branch, before taking the lead of the Vertical Transportation Purchasing Department for France and Europe. He then organized, centralized and led the Mechanical and Electrical Purchasing Department for Bouygues Construction’s worldwide activities and branches.
Bertrand holds a Master’s degree in Purchasing Management from the University of Grenoble (France) and an MBA from the University of Massachusetts (USA).
Pan TfL Director
Mandeep joined us in 2015 from London Underground with which Otis has had a relationship for over 100 years, helping to bring one of the world’s busiest transport systems to life with the first public escalator installed in Earl’s Court Station in 1911.
Mandeep is responsible for the delivery of escalators for the London Underground and the Elizabeth line - a new railway which will increase central London rail capacity by 10% and increase choice of travel. This is part of the wider Crossrail, Europe’s largest infrastructure engineering project, which will add an estimated £42bn to the UK’s economy. The opening of the Elizabeth line in December 2018 will usher in a significant milestone in moving over 200 million passengers a year.
An ambitious and innovative engineering feat, site access to install escalators on Crossrail was extremely tight and, in some cases, with just millimetres to spare. Mandeep is proud of the role Otis UK has played. “This the epitome of complex detailed logistical planning and a very tough job to pull off. We have enjoyed rising to the challenge.”
A lover of walking and cycling with his family, Mandeep also enjoys being a culture and travel connoisseur.
President, Otis Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA)
As President, Otis EMEA, comprised of 26,000 employees throughout 43 countries, Mark is responsible for all aspects of the regional business’ service, installation, modernization and operations, with particular focus on safety, customer service and growth.
Mark joined the company in March 2019 and is based in Paris, France. He is a member of the Otis Executive Committee, reporting directly to Otis President & CEO Judy Marks.
He began his career working in engineering consulting and construction engineering projects, later taking a role at the Southern Company to focus on project management for the commercial, industrial and municipal energy sectors. Mark joined Otis from Eaton Corporation where he was a corporate officer and served as Group President, Electrical Products. Prior to Eaton Corporation, Mark held a series of strategy and general management executive roles at Cooper Industries, including President of Cooper Lighting, before its eventual sale to Eaton Corporation in 2012.
Mark holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from University of Florida and a Master of Business Administration from Emory University.
Service Director of Otis UK
Alex Lampe is the Service Director of Otis UK where he leads 600 employees to provide exceptional customer service using the latest technology, processes, and tools to provide transparent and real time information on jobs and work history so that service engineers work alongside our customers.
“Our customers want a high quality service for their units because they are integral to keeping residents, visitors, and staff moving safely and efficiently in a building. Our investment in our engineers’ tools will play an integral role in making that happen as they can quickly diagnose issues and resolve them.”
With 12 years of industry experience, Alex started in Otis as an Industrial Field Engineer in process improvement. He has increasingly taken on responsibilities throughout Otis with a successful track record in sales growth and process improvement.
A lover of travel and sports, Alex enjoys snowboarding and occasionally dusts off his boots to play rugby.
