Connecting responsibly

We prioritize projects and programs that tie to business performance, while further strengthening our culture, allowing us to adapt to evolving industry needs and pursue new opportunities that move us closer to achieving our vision.

Underscoring the integration of sustainability and responsibility into our core business operations and recognizing their supporting role in enhancing Otis’ financial performance and competitive advantage, Otis has developed a governance model that supports our business strategy and vision. Together with our Otis Absolutes of Safety, Ethics and Quality, and our Leading at Otis Behaviors, they create value for our stakeholders and the broader communities where we live and work.

Why governance matters

We move 2.4 billion people each day, and with that reach comes great responsibility. Strong governance ensures we remain aligned with global regulatory requirements and changes that lead to superior business outcomes and increased stakeholder trust.

Our Otis Absolutes of Safety, Ethics and Quality establish standards of conduct and enable ethical, value-based decision making.  They are the principles that guide us to do the right thing and conduct our business in a safe, ethical and lawful way. They define us, shape our work and set us apart.

Ethics and integrity

With every ride and every interaction with our stakeholders, we act with an unwavering commitment to doing business the right way: ethically, lawfully and transparently.

We regularly train our global Otis colleagues on a range of ethics topics, including human rights, modern slavery, anti-human trafficking, antitrust, conflicts of interest, protecting company data, cybersecurity, data protection, anti-harassment, anti-discrimination, and anti-corruption and anti-bribery.

Responsible procurement

To mitigate potential business disruptions and increased costs, we partner with a wide range of suppliers - and hold memberships to various organizations to help us identify new qualified suppliers - to reduce dependency risks, strengthen operational stability and ensure that our supply chain is responsible and resilient.

We include sustainability-related questions in our sourcing review, and we require adherence to our Supplier Code of Conduct to hold our suppliers accountable to the same standards we apply to ourselves.

Cybersecurity, data privacy & intellectual property

We responsibly collect, manage, store and protect all data with the utmost care. We have taken a risk-based approach to cybersecurity, implementing cybersecurity policies throughout operations and designing security into our products and services as they are being developed.

We encourage colleagues, contractors and customers to report any security vulnerabilities uncovered while working with us and investigate any credible reports we receive.

Speaking up

We empower our colleagues, contractors and the riding public to speak up if they suspect wrongdoing without fear of retaliation. All reported concerns are investigated via the same confidential, thorough investigative process, regardless of reporting method or the identity or position of the person reporting. All our stakeholders can report their concerns using our reporting channels.
