Hangzhou, China, April 30, 2020 – Otis Electric Elevator Co. Ltd. (Otis Electric), a subsidiary of Otis (NYSE: OTIS) in China, will provide 133 escalators for Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport’s Phase 3 expansion project. This will bring the total of Otis Electric escalators and elevators at the airport to more than 200.

The airport expansion is part of a wider push to strengthen Hangzhou’s infrastructure as the city prepares to host the 2022 Asian Games. With a strong track record of providing reliable escalator and elevator equipment - and maintenance support for transport infrastructure across China - Otis Electric was a key supplier to the 80,000-seat Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center and has been a long-time contributor to the Hangzhou Metro.

The largest city in Zhejiang province, Hangzhou is a mega-city with a vibrant economy fueled by tourism and the conference industry. A number of major digital corporations are also based there. The city has a permanent population of over 10 million people and a GDP of over $257 billion, according to the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development’s "2018 Urban Construction Statistical Yearbook."
