LONDON, UK, Feb. 6, 2019 - Otis UK has been appointed by London Gatwick to service 340 elevators, escalators, and moving walkways in the UK’s second largest airport. The five-year contract begins immediately. Otis is a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
The contract marks a significant expansion of the company’s footprint in the UK major infrastructure market in line with its strategy to remain the leading people-moving product service provider.
A team of Otis onsite service engineers will be responsible for the safe and reliable maintenance of the units in the airport, which transports 46 million passengers every year on short and long haul flights.
“Our highly skilled and experienced engineers ensure that passengers move safely and efficiently through the airport,” said Ray Bisson, Managing Director of Otis UK. “We have invested heavily in proprietary apps and our digital infrastructure to get real-time visibility of unit performance and health, which enables faster resolution of issues so that passengers can be confident about enjoying reliable, comfortable rides. This contract award is recognition of our ability to provide expedited maintenance in complex operational environments.”
