Xizi Otis to Supply Escalators for Greek Metro Project

Xizi Otis Elevator Co., one of the largest suppliers to China’s fast-expanding rail transport infrastructure, will supply 74 high-performance Otis escalators for the metro extension project now underway in Athens, Greece. Xizi Otis is a subsidiary of Otis Elevator (China) Investment Company Limited, which is a part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

The expansion will use the Otis XO21NP escalator, which was specifically designed for urban public transportation and provides an efficient and flexible solution for high-traffic public areas. It uses the most advanced energy-saving technology and offers a comfortable ride and excellent performance with minimal maintenance. The new project is the third for Xizi Otis in Greece, following the successful deployment of its escalators at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games venues and Thessaloniki Metro in 2011.
